The South Dakota Licensed Beverage and Gaming Association have been in existence for over 60 years. During this period we have trained thousands of hospitality professionals through in-house training classes to become TAM certified and have also conducted “Train-the-Trainer” classes for those wanting to become a TAM instructor.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the many changes we have all experienced in the hospitality industry these last 6 months, we have had to cancel all in-person, public classes to keep everyone safe. In order to continue this very important training, we have made some changes in order to move forward with in-house classes for those needing them in order to be certified in this area.
Those students who choose to take an in-house TAM instruction class or wish to become a TAM instructor may do so now virtually in the comfort of their own home or place of work to complete this certification. There will no longer be time off of work in traveling across the state to do so and yet still receive face-to-face training with an instructor and still having the experience of a classroom style setting with other students, etc.
Pricing for the virtual classes will remain at $25/member and $35/non-member for TAM certification classes WITH A MINIMUM OF 20 for each class (this can be from several different organizations to meet that total in a class); and Train-the-Trainer Instructor course - $200/member and $250/non-member. (A total minimum of 5 in each class – again this can be from several different organizations to meet this total)
We have always taken education seriously. Whenever alcohol is served, it is imperative that your staff is prepared and trained properly in this area to prevent any accidental over serving, the sale of alcohol to minors, violating liquor laws, taking improper identification, etc. The proper training of employees is a major part of running a great establishment and the more they are versed in this area, the less risk you take as a business owner.
