From the desk of the President...
Happy spring: A beautiful one that hopefully will bring sunshine eventually as summer approaches. We recently held our annual spring SD-LBDGA board meeting, hosted by Beal Distributing, wherein our lobbyist, Matt Krogman, joined us to review bills proposed and gave us a general overview of the recent legislative session. Once again, he did a great job representing us, and we are appreciative of his role on our team. This was a very successful session with the nonsuccess of bills with potentially negative impact on our industries and the passing of others that are supportive of our growth and development.
This time of year is a less demanding time in legislation, though our role as an association continues to keep up with the development of changes, to monitor additional forms of betting, and to keep you informed. We encourage you to connect with your legislators; introduce yourself, your business and have conversations with them regarding your business, your contribution to community, and your concerns.
It's always a focus to recruit members for SD-LBDGA Are you taking advantage of your membership benefits, and sharing with others in our industries to build our organization? Just a reminder that your membership benefits include representation, information and communication on your interests such as: Beverage and Alcohol Taxes, Fees and Regulations, Music Licensing, Tobacco Issues, Employment/Wage Matters, Education and Training Opportunities, and we welcome your input for other topics of importance to you and your business. Know that we are proactive in regards to how outside interests and developments could affect the SD Video Lottery side of things, and we welcome your questions anytime.
I would like to ask for your time to, not just be a member, but participate as a member of the SD-LBDGA committee and recruit others. Thank you for your commitment to SD-LBDGA, and stay cool!
